Visit the major attractions of the Capital city Pretoria and spend time with traditional healer Dr Mabena in the Mamelodi township
Pretoria, the host City of the WCMT 2020 conference, is the Capital city of South Africa. Visit the City’s important landmarks during the city tour: the Union buildings with its famous Nelson Mandela statue, drive by Church square with the statue of Paul Kruger and the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng division. Experience Freedom Park memorial – understanding the road that led us to Freedom
This memorial was erected, on a hill overlooking the City of Pretoria from 2000- 2004. It is a place where the Nation’s heroes are honoured and where the complex story of South Africa’s road to freedom is told through symbolism, exhibits, architecture and stories. It also celebrates the diversity of South Africa’s people and our common humanity.
Proceed to Mamelodi township to the healing practice of DR Mabena, a traditional healer, who lives and works in Mamelodi. Dr Mabena will show you his practise and living museum. He will share some of the Core principles of healing from his experience and practice, as a traditional African healer. You will also visit his successful project – the Mamelodi Nature Reserve. He has transformed a rubbish dump into a sanctuary, over the past 18 years. You will walk among the trees in the nature reserve and nursery and learn about their uses in African medicine. The morning includes a picnic lunch.
